• Many people believe they will never fall for scams and feel that being scam aware is overrated. However, studies show that about one in ten adults falls for financial scams every year, and the percentage grows a little bit every year. 

• As technological advances keep growing, the number of ways that scammers can achieve their goals keeps growing as well. It is becoming more and more important to be aware of these dangers and how to protect yourself from them.

• In 2018, there was a reported total of $1.8 billion lost to fraud in the United States of America alone.

• Many people lose money to fraud but do not report it, with the fear of being humiliated. To get more people to feel comfortable about reporting these incidents, awareness and true information needs to be spread.
